Chassis:
Completed early in 1961, this 250 GT California was finished with an unsual rust-coloured paint dubbed Nocciola. In this guise, it was shown at the 1961 Brussels Motor Show by Garage Francorchamps. It then returned to Italy, where it was delivered to its first owner, who was a loyal Ferrari customer. There is a strong believe that the car was used later in the decade in the Italian motion picture Sissignore for a particularly exciting chase scene. There is no definitive evidence that chassis 2277GT was the car used but it certainly was one of only very few examples of the type in Europe at the time. It did not stay there for long as it was sold to the United States before the end of the 1960s. By this time, it was already re-painted in a more conventional red finish. From the early 1970s, it changed hands several times but remained in North America until it was sold by Mexican Carlos Hank Rhon to a British enthusiast in 2003. He had the car restored by GTO Engineering and it has since been maintained to full running order.
